Biography

Pavel Havelka is a Czech glass artist living and working in Škrdlovice near Žďár nad Sázavou. He graduated from the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Železný Brod, where he studied in the studio of metallurgical glass processing under the guidance of Pavel Ježek. After his studies, he worked as a glassmaker in the glassworks in Škrdlovice, then as a glassmaker in the Svoboda glassworks in Karlovy Vary and in the Glass Art Prince glassworks in Žďár nad Sázavou.

Pavel Havelka - Sklo

In 2007 he became a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the Czech Republic. In his work he focuses on maintaining the tradition of glass from Škrdlovice and specializes in the production of ground metallurgical glass. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Crystal Gallery in Dubai (2007), the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague (2008), the Lotus Gallery in Taiwan (2010), the IVOQ Gallery in New Delhi, India (2015) and the Shanghai Art Fair in China (2017).

Since 2012, together with his wife Lucie Havelka, he has been running the glass studio "Havi art glass" in Škrdlovice. His work is diverse, including metallurgical glass, cut sculptures and decorative sculptures in architecture. Pavel Havelka is one of the most important contemporary Czech glassmakers and his works are represented in a number of museums and galleries, including the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
